HR Manager

Job Description

Summary: As the Manager of Human Resources for Spark Networks, you will be responsible for shaping the Company’s culture, ensuring that we hire the right talent, support our employee base, and equip them with the skills, knowledge, tools, and environment necessary to succeed. You will be responsible for implementation and maintenance of HR practices and procedures, and will carry out the day-to-day HR duties of the Lehi, UT and New York City Spark offices. This is an onsite opportunity in the Lehi, Utah office.

Responsibilities

  • Actively providing HR expertise in employee relations, coaching/development, conflict management, organizational development, and training throughout the Spark office locations
  • Managing our recruitment function including setting standards for quality and process, sourcing and screening of candidates, coordinating interviews, liaising with staffing agencies, etc.
  • Managing and refining the employee on-boarding and off-boarding processes
  • Managing the performance review program and ensuring that we have a transparent and value-driven process that helps to maintain both a sense of excellence as well as a results-oriented culture
  • Overseeing all payroll and benefits programs for our employees (collaboration with the Payroll Manager) and spearheading the annual benefits renewal and open enrollment process
  • Building and shaping a culture that helps Spark employees develop and excel
  • Developing perks and employee rewards and recognition programs, as well as employee engagement initiatives
  • Ensuring compliance and safety standards are met (postings, employee files, reporting, policies, IIPP, workers’ comp, etc.)
  • Being the point of contact for all HR matters in our Utah and New York City offices
  • Partnering with our European HR team to ensure consistency and equity across all HR aspects of the business

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant HR experience, preferably as a manager or generalist
  • Experience working for an internet, e-commerce, or start-up required
  • Experience partnering and communicating directly with Senior Management
  • Approachable and personable
  • Outstanding communications skills and follow through ability
  • Able to effectively utilize data and to help the business make appropriate decisions
  • Exercise confidentiality, good judgment, and discretion
  • Strong negotiation and presentation skills
  • Roll-up-your-sleeves attitude with a high-energy level
  • Willingness to travel
