Spark Networks is seeking a creative and original-thinking consultant to act as a copywriter to create a broad range of new content spanning from site copy and banner ads to email newsletters and social media posts. The part-time position, which works within Spark’s Marketing department as the communication hub across all brands, is perfect for anyone looking to join an upbeat and energetic team who constantly supports one another to be better and better each day.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Writing advertising, promotional, social, email, customer service, and general marketing collateral materials
  • Creating compelling on-brand marketing copy on a daily basis
  • Guaranteeing that best practices are employed to include relevant keywords in copy to enhance search results
  • Developing campaign-level materials for all marketing and distribution channels, including website, mobile, mobile optimized
  • Ensuring all copy meets the expectations set by the Marketing team’s creative brief and that it is delivered on deadline, proofed, and 100% error-free
  • Trafficking all content to appropriate departments or stakeholders in the organization
  • Ideating the development of content strategies, and working with other team members such as the Director of Content and VP of Lifecycle Marketing
  • Creating and maintaining editorial guidelines and best practice documentation
  • Designing copy tests to beat controls on a regular basis

Job qualifications and desired personality traits:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Public Relations, Communications or other related field
  • Demonstrated, exceptional writing skills, with a proficiency for adapting core messaging to a broad variety of audience segments, channels and platforms
  • Minimum of 2-3 years related copywriting experience in the online and digital space, with a portfolio of work that was wholly completed by you and has produced really, really great results that you can’t wait to share
  • Understanding of SEO copywriting
  • Experience with direct marketing/promotional writing
  • Highly creative and imaginative, someone who has her/his fingers on the pulse of culture
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced organization with passionate people who will challenge you to expand your perspective and create your best work yet
  • Multi-tasking and deadline-meeting guru-like presence
  • You take your work seriously but not yourself
  • Proficiency in MS Office 2010: Word, PowerPoint, Excel
