Senior SQL DBA
Beverly Hills, CA

The Database Administrator is responsible for supporting and coordinating all database activities. This includes running scripts, database tuning, monitoring, backup and recovery, designing and creating databases, resolving complex database related problems, and monitoring/managing all database modifications and changes.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall performance, tuning, and backup/recovery of all installed SQL Server (2000 and 2005) databases across all environments
  • Verify and deploy scripts written by programmers in STAGE and DEV environments
  • Diagnose and resolve production problems
  • Proactive Maintenance and Monitoring of all instances of SQL Server 2000/2005 servers
  • Work closely with other technology team members to design and implement new features and improve existing scripts
  • Work closely with QA and Development teams to identify any possible performance bottlenecks and provide solutions for fixing those problems
  • Plan and implement database upgrades as needed on SQL Server
  • Write custom scripts to automate various daily DBA operations
  • Create new, and improve, existing Database documentations
  • Provide production support of large 7X24 SQL databases, with rotating on-call duties after hours
  • Provide required reports from production environment to other departments on request basis and perform data analysis to provide management with timely and accurate informatio.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of databases and applications that can support the ongoing company growth
  • Troubleshoot production problems, and work effectively with other team members to identify and address problems

 Additional Responsibilities:

  • SQL security and planning
  • Maintaining and creating user accounts for proper access
  • SQL Agent job scheduling and monitoring
  • SQL Server system tables
  • SQL Profiler and Enterprise Manager
  • Server monitoring to ensure adequate CPU, disk space, and memory on all SQL servers

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of SQL Server 2000 DBA experience and knowledge of SQL Server 2005
  • Strong performance tuning and capacity planning experience
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and testing database backup and recovery strategies
  • Expert in SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio and DTS Packages
  • Strong familiarity with database replication, clustering, and log shipping
  • Very strong in T-SQL
