Database Administrator
Beverly Hills, CA
Design database systems and set best practices for operations, programming and security. Design and construct relational schema including DDL (Data Definition language), stored procedures, and indexes. Performs systems analysis on database, and resolve performance, capacity, and replication issues as necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Involved in the administration of production servers hosting Spark.net’s online sites.
- Analyzed processes and designed custom jobs to ease management of SQL servers.
- Provided support to the in house SQL server data warehouse and associated ETL processes.
- Migrated entire database server farm from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2008.
- Upgraded the stored procedures, database schema and other SQL components to be SQL Server 2008 compatible.
- Performed analysis and upgraded DTS packages to SSIS and optimized them to use the powerful new SSIS functionality.
- Setup Database Mirroring for critical production databases.
- Duties involve the whole gamut of SQL tasks, troubleshooting production issues, and designing SQL stored procedures.
- Designed reporting management schema; including DDL (Data Definition language), stored procedures, and indexes and managed the department wide ETL process.
- Researched, designed and implemented Disaster Recovery Plan for production server running SQL Server 2008.
- Resolved performance issues by running SQL Server Profiler and analyzing the output.
- Experience with XML
- Installation and configuration of PostgreSQL
- Proficiency in psql,pgadmin SQL Manager for PostgreSQL
- Evaluate and implement hot data replication strategy (e.g. SLONY or competing tools)
- Experience managing MySQL 5.0 databases, and using MySQL Multiple Instance Manager,mysqldump
- Design and develop the architecture for data warehousing components (e.g. tool integration strategy; source system data ETL strategy, data staging, movement and aggregation; information and analytics delivery; and data quality strategy)
